What is PAGBABAGO! People’s Movement for Change?
Pagbabago! People’s Movement for change is a network of individuals and groups united in a comprehensive reform program; it is a movement for substantial, not just superficial change. It validates our people’s aspirations for economic progress and social justice; democratic rights not just for the elite but more so for the powerless and downtrodden; and genuine national independence and dignity as a people.
The aims and tasks of Pagbabago! People’s Movement for Change are: to act as a People’s Watchdog that will to fight for genuine reforms in government and in society; to develop and disseminate the People’s Agenda for Change; to highlight and develop genuine People’s Leaders, formulate and propagate the People’s Criteria for candidates in the next elections; to support particular democratic campaigns and struggles revolving around People’s Issues; to generate broader and stronger opposition and resistance to moves to perpetuate Gloria Arroyo in power; to expose and combat systematic and wholesale election fraud and the use of state forces to terrorize voters and the general public, or in general, work for honest, fair and free elections.
