Foreign delegates to observe conduct of automated elections in regions

MANILA — Eighty-six foreign delegates from 11 countries will observe the conduct of automated elections in the country’s nine regions. Composed of academicians, lawyers, law students, journalists, social workers, union organizers, church workers, the foreign delegates will document specific cases of fraud and violence to some of the country’s hot spot areas.

Six days before the elections, the mudslinging and finger-pointing among candidates – especially those seeking the presidency – continues to intensify. Change group Pagbabago! People’s Movement for Change today slammed government authorities for the apparent double standard in dealing with detainees as it noted how Maguindanao massacre primary suspect Andal Ampatuan Jr. was able to hold a press conference inside his detention facility while military officials have twice refused to produce the Morong 43 before the Commission on Human Rights (CHR).
