PRESS RELEASE / 10 July 2009
A reform group calls on the public for increased vigilance today as the Comelec signs the poll automation contract despite the controversy surrounding the bidding process, the lack of transparency and the hasty implementation of the project.
Pagbabago! People's Movement for Change, a group of reform-minded individuals, said that the Comelec should require the winning bidder, Smartmatic-TIM consortium, to publicly disclose the reason for their recent disagreement that almost derailed the Comelec’s automation project, as well as the newest terms of their joint-venture.
